Dance Trance - Lexington KY - Contra Dance Weekend

Dance Trance is a contra dance weekend in Lexington, KY, produced by the Lexington Traditional Dance Association. For 2026 we have the 27th Dance Trance. See Dance Trance and Swing Shift archive for past performers.

Dance Trance 2026, 5-7 June 2026, will feature ContraForce with callers Seth Tepfer and Kenny Greer.

Location - Dance Trance 2026 will be held at Artworks at the Carver School, 522 Patterson St, Lexington, KY.

Prices -

Full weekend: $120 / $65 student
Friday Night: $35 / $20 student
Saturday Day: $25 / $12 student
Individual Workshops: $10 / $5 student
Saturday Night: $40 / $20 student
Sunday: $35 / $20 student

Reduced Price Admission

The Dance Trance Planning Committee recognizes that the cost of our dance weekend may be a barrier for some. To ensure as many people as possible can participate, we are offering the following options, on approval -

Work Trade: Help with various tasks before, during, or after Dance Trance in exchange for a full or partial admission.
Sliding Scale: Pay what you can afford.

To request a reduced price admission, use the registration form (link below), checking the appropriate request(s), and we will call you with details before you pay.

Hotel prices are up due to nearby events. Book early and consider staying farther from the dance. There are many hotels along I-75 and I-64 and in Georgetown, Richmond, Frankfort, and Berea. Limited home stays are available - request housing soon via this link: Dance Trance housing request form
